Valparaiso University Softball Clinics 2008 will focus on fundamental and advanced softball skills. Those participating in the pitching sessions must provide a catcher! Walk-ins are welcome.

FEATURING SPECIAL GUEST: SHANE BOUMAN
Shane Bouman is in his first season as an assistant coach at Iowa. Before coming to Iowa, Bouman served as head coach at South Dakota State for six seasons. He is the winningest coach in school history with 140 victories. Bouman also guided nine players to Division I all-Independent teams and seven players to the Division I Independent all-Academic teams. The Jackrabbits set school records for career home runs, stolen bases, RBI and sacrifices under Bouman. Bouman is also an accomplished softball pitcher. He is a four-time Amateur Softball Association (ASA) all-American and a two-time North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) all-American. Bouman led five teams to ASA national championships and competed in nine International Softball Congress tournaments, placing third in 1995 and fifth in both 1996 and 1997. Bouman graduated from South Dakota State in 1992 and was a four-year letterwinner for the Jackrabbit football team. As a quarterback, Bouman earned all-North Central Conference honors in 1991 after leading the Jackrabbits to a 7-3 record. Bouman finished the season with a 100.72 quarterback efficiency rating.
